The Open Space Committee takes pride in putting on a good party. For the last 22 years we have created a spring fundraising event that hundreds of loyal supporters have attended. Along with gourmet foods and fine wines, we have presented programs ranging from the historical to the hysterical to the adventurous. To name a few, we’ve seen “Steaming up Tamalpais,” a documentary film by Cris Chater, “The Ascent of Mt. Everest” with mountaineer Colin Lynch, “Bears & Pigs & Cats, Oh My!” with cartoonist Phil Frank, ”Saving the Marin Sonoma Coast” by famed local conservationist Dr. Martin Griffin, and photographer Ernest Braun’s “Spring Pageant of Marin Wildflowers.” At the 2005 event, we were charmed by the three top prize winners of our first elementary school writing and drawing contest. The level of understanding and ability to articulate their feelings were very impressive.
