San Anselmo is home to a network of stairs, lanes, and trails that offer residents and visitors scenic and practical pathways through town. These paths are overseen by the Public Works Department in collaboration with the Open Space Committee.

• Green trails are officially accepted by the Town and are maintained to ensure public safety and preserve access rights.

• Red trails are considered tentative and have not yet been formally accepted into the Town's inventory. However, they are under review and planned for future inclusion.

By the year 2045, the Town of San Anselmo aims to have all tentative trails surveyed, evaluated, and officially adopted to enhance the community’s pedestrian connectivity and open space access.
